Yoke Yoga 2024 yoga teacher training

The Yoke Yoga 200hr Teacher Training is an internationally accredited program designed for both those that want to teach as well as those wishing to dive deeper into their practice. Lead by highly experienced teachers this training will give you an experiential understanding of the many layers of yoga as well at the tools, coaching and confidence to teach. We also acknowledge that each of us have our own unique wisdom, and our commitment is to help you share this with clarity and authenticity.


MEET YOUR TEACHERS

Chris Wilson - Yoke Founder

Chris has been sharing the practice of yoga and meditation since 2007. He fell in love with yoga and meditation in is early 20’s as it brought peace and clarity to a turbulent mind. Over the past 20 years Chris hasn’t stopped learning and evolving his understanding. Among the many teachers he has studied with, Chris has been primarily inspired by Erich Schiffman, Richard Miller and Rupert Spira. He sees yoga as the simple intimacy with the truth of each moment.

Having lead over 20 200-Hour teacher trainings, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. He is most passionate about encouraging teachers to teach from their heart, that is to listen and be guided by their authentic experience.

Chris was previously co-owner of Power Living Melbourne and is the founder of Yoke Yoga. 

Alongside sharing yoga and meditation his dharma is to be the best dad he can be.

Ryan Mannix

Ryan has been sharing his passion for yoga through teaching classes both in Australia and abroad, leading workshops and co-leading teacher trainings since 2014. Before teaching yoga, Ryan was a professional runner and multi-sport athlete so has always had a passion for movement. This is emphasised in his classes, which are high energy, strong and playful.

His passion is flow and creative sequencing, providing students an opportunity to challenge themselves physically and mentally. Ryan is currently a global ambassador of yoga for LuluLemon and travels the world leading workshops and trainings.

  • A supportive, welcoming, inspiring environment where you can learn and grow.

    Over the course of four weeks you will study the history and philosophy of yoga - the ‘Why’ that makes sense of our practice, the fundamentals of breath and pranayama, detailed anatomy and its application to yoga asana and teaching techniques such as basic sequencing, building a theme and timing.

    Chris Wilson and Ryan Mannix have been leading 200hr trainings for over 10 years and collectively have over 25 years teaching experience. Along side facilitating the training, Chris and Ryan will be supporting you through one on one coaching and mentoring.

    The training has a theme of ‘teaching from the heart’. This means teaching from your ‘felt’ experience, and therefore leading a class that has feels authentic and has purpose.

  • This course is for dedicated students who want to further their practice and deepen their understanding of yoga. It’s also for aspiring teachers, ready to share the gift of yoga with others, and those who are already qualified and want to expand their offering.

    A journey for anyone who wishes to learn more about themselves through the practice of yoga and who are ready to embrace, and encourage in others, the values of connection, compassion, courage, humility and trust.

  • ASANA

    Our focus on asana will help you to strengthen your capacity as a student and take your personal practice to a whole new level. You’ll benefit from first hand experience of anatomical and energetic alignment that creates the most expansive practice and learn how to give this gift to your students. 
You’ll learn how to demonstrate and how to assist, so that you can effectively communicate with all students. You’ll learn to teach safely, effectively and with confidence 
We’ll cover: 


    • Detailed study of all yoga postures including modifications of poses, appropriate use of props and principles of alignment 


    • Physical and energetic benefits of postures 
• Hands on adjustments 


    • Learning to see and understand bodies 


    • Creating a class and learn intelligent sequencing 


    • Verbalising asana: learn to give clear, simple instructions


    ANATOMY

    We’ll study Western Anatomy & Physiology with a focus on understanding on how to create safe, stable alignment in asana. We’ll study Yogic Anatomy in order to understand the energetic effects of yoga asana on the body and mind. 
We’ll cover: 


    • The musculoskeletal system, the spine, the nervous system, physiology of breathing 


    • Principles of stretching, twisting, backbending and forward folding 


    • The Koshas 


    • The Chakra system 


    • Breath & Pranayama practices

    PRACTICE TEACHING

    Every day we’ll practice teaching. You will receive immediate feedback to help you refine your teaching skills and feel at ease in front of a class 
You’ll receive personal coaching to help you find your authentic voice as a teacher. We are here to support you every step of the way.


    BEYOND THE ASANA

    We’ll let you in on the best ways to integrate the physical with the spiritual. 
We’ll encourage you to reflect upon your own life through the lens of the yogic teachings and investigated with curiosity and openness 
We’ll teach you how to translate your life lessons to an experience on the mat that can inspire, excite and uplift students. 
We’ll help you use your own unique voice and life experiences to speak to what’s real in the classroom 
We’ll give you some great tools for sharing your heart with your students

    HISTORY & PHILOSOPHY

    • We’ll provide you with a detailed overview of this living tradition to help you make sense of your place in the history of yoga 


    • We’ll introduced you to some of the most influential yogis of our time 


    • We’ll discuss different lineages and philosophies so that you can define what yoga is for you 


    • Together we’ll study The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and learn how this ancient text is relevant to our lives today 


    • Together we’ll unpack the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and engage with it’s messages and themes
